Obituary: Saltville, Mrs. Dorothy Woodward Montgomery, 59, died Sunday, Jan 8, 1989 at her home.  Survivors include her husband Billy B. Services were held for Charles at Tumbling Creek Union Church with Rev. Jack Carniery and Rev. R. B. Henderson.  Pallbearers were Rusty Woodward, Darrell Woodward, E. C. Woodward, Henry Moore, Johnny Moore and Wilfred Moore.

Obituary for Florida R. Rickman..died in a Saltville Hospital Thursday morning (Feb 7, 1963).  Survivors include her husband, Charles Woodward, Saltville, seven daughters, 2 sons, a sister, Mrs. Ellen Olinger, Chatham Hill, a brother, J. Chess and his family lived in Carswell Hollow, outside of Kimball, WVA.  Chess worked in the mines.  Joye Boardman's grandmother, Floy Callahan Henderson, who was a cousin to both Chess and Lula helped take care of the two boys. 

Newspaper Obituary for Chess F. Woodward of near Saltville, died Thursday night at home following a lingering illness.  He was a prominent farmer of Washington Co.VA and a member of the Methodist Church. Survived by wife, Lucy and children, 1 brother, Rev. George W. Woodward, Plasterco and one sister, Mrs. M. A. McCray, Meadowview, VA. Services were held Sunday, Oct 17, 1946, with the Rev. Roy Poston officiating.

Newton Woodward was the son of Rebecca Woodward. The Marriage Record states Newton is the son of Newton and A. Woodward. 

appears in the 1860 Washington Co. VA Census, he and Jasper F. Woodward are twins, however, Joye Boardman suspects Jasper is 2 -3 years younger

1900 Washington Co. VA Census..Newton, age 49;  wife, Anner L.; William C., age 19, born 1881, Jasper, age 16, born Aug 1883. Living with them is Rebecca (Woodward) Keith, age 79, widow born May 1821. (Newton's mother).
 
1910 Washington Co.. VA Census...Newton is 58, widower, living in household of son-in-law, Marion McCray in Saltville District.

Helen had two daughters by John Lewis Taylor before they were divorced after the Civil War. John was awarded custody of the children.

Taylor.  Defendent in Chancery Circuit Court...court orders that bond of matrimony be dissolved..that a divorce a venculo matrimonii be granted..infant children be restored to the possion of the complainant..he be allowed to retain the custody and care of them.
