Joachim Eslava ran a cotton pickery and grist mill, corner of Conception and Madison Streets, Mobile.

Her grandfather was Don Miguel de Siderio Eslava I, born ca 1740 in San Sebastian, Spain; died September 17, 1832 in Mobile, AL. He was the son of Don Thomas Eslava and Dona Maria Giron.

Miguel married Hypolite Alexandre June 10, 1794 in Mobile, AL.
Hypolite Alexandre, born June 29, 1767 in Mobile, AL died January 03, 1849 in Mobile, AL. She was the daughter of Jean Baptiste Alexandre III and Dame Catherine Angelica de Ardaux Loiselle.

He wrote Hardyman Duke on the petition to the Federal govt. to gain compensation for his losses in a burn-out by the Indians in 1815 in Miss. Territory. He was a territorial judge.

"They [Hardyman Duke and Sally Jordan] were married March 25, 1805 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. He came to Clark County, Alabama in 1809 and settled in the James Creek area around 1811. He had seven sons-Thomas, William, James Henry (my ancestor),John, Charles, Michael, and Welcome Parks. He had a least one daughter-Emily Jane. The last record of Hardyman was the 1830 census. I assume he died between 1830 and 1840. There is some indication he died in 1839 in Clark County. But, I do not know where in the County he is buried."
