  1. 1.  Henry Towles was born 1652, Liverpool, England; died 06 Jun 1721, Accomack Co. VA.

    Notes:

    Henry came to Virigina around 1664 from Liverpool England at the age of 12. He was appointed constable of Accomac County in 1681.His occupation was always listed as planter. Tradition has it that the family is of Welsh origin, although it could be a Scottish or English name.

    He leased 1,000 acres in Accomack Co, VA; at one time at least, he owned 500 acs on"Jengoateague" (Presently known as Chincoteague) Island which he sold to John Custis, Esq.

    HENRY TOWLES, the immigrant from Liverpool, England came to Accomac Co., in 1652 when he was 12 years old, at one time owned Chinoteague Island, and later traded this land for a plantation in Middlesex Co. ANN STOKELEY was the daughter of JOHN & ELIZABETH, Immigrants from England to Accomac Co. in the year 1649.

    Will: 17 Jan 1720/21 - 6 Jun 1721. To son Kendall my Plantation where I live - wife to hav e use of same for life. Sons Job and Thomas the rest of my land. To sons Henry Towles 1 s . To son Stockley [Stokeley] Towles 1 s. (From wills and Administrations of Accomack Va 1663-1800 P. 52)

    Henry married Ann Stokeley. Ann (daughter of John Stokeley and Elizabeth) was born 1647, Accomack Co. VA; died , Accomack Co. VA. [Group Sheet]
