    LUTHER CARPENTER was born September 15, 1837, on the same farm where he now resides in a house which was built by John F. Carpenter and in which the fourth generation of his family now resides. He married, April 5, 1866, Sarah E., daughter of Edmond and Sarah P. (Blakey) Duncan. To them have been born Mildred, Mary S., Jonathan T., May, George B., Luther, Florence and Herbert. Mr. Carpenter started in life as a farmer; also speculated some in stock and in leaf tobacco. He is now the owner of 540 acres of fine land in the best portion of Warren County. He is a member of the Christian Church and a Democrat of the Jeffersonian school.

    Jonathan T. Carpenter, was born August 6, 1809, in the State of Virginia. At the age of sixteen years he removed to Kentucky and located in Warren County, on the same farm now occupied by our subject, in a house which was built by John F. Carpenter and in which the fourth generation of his family now resides.

    Jonathan Carpenter married, about 1830,Elizabeth, daughter of Lewis Dunn. Their offspring were Mary (Claypool), Elizabeth (Claypool), Sally (Alexander) and Ella (Ferguson).
