MISS MATTIE Holmes, formerly of Bluffton, but now of Rome, is visiting the family of Dr. B.R. Doster in Blakely.

DR. DOSTOR has commenced the removal of the building occupied by Mr. R.H. Powell just south of The News building to the vacant lot by his drug store.

THE "CITY FATHERS" of 1884, as selected at the election last Saturday, are: B.R. Doctor, R.W. Davis, J.T. Freeman, H.H. Buchannon, and R.C. Smith. At a meeting of the new council, Dr. Dostor was elected chairman, Mr. R.W. Davis vice-chairman, Judge J.B. Jones was made marshal and Mr. J.J. Smith was re-elected clerk and treasure
