- Charles, brother of Adam Alexander, moved to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and purchased property there. Charles was a signer of the Mecklenburg Declaration of independence, was an active soldier and a captain in the Revolutionary War, serving under both Colonel Charles Polk and his brother, Colonel Adam Alexander. He had a son, Charles, Jr. who also served together in the same company. Charles Alexander
and his wife, Jean Polk, had seven children.
