He was born Dec. 19, 1926, in York, a son of the late Russell E. and Augusta M. (Woodward) Trafton. He was a graduate of York High School and had served in the Army during World War II. He had worked for Henry Ruch Construction Co., the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and for Central Maine Power before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion, St. Aspinquid Lodge and the Maine Royal Arch Chapter. He enjoyed trains, model boats and watching the Red Sox and Bruins. He is survived by a sister, Harriet T. Lawry, of York; two brothers-in-law, Earl B. Smith Jr. and Gene Lawry, both of York; and nieces, nephews and cousins. His wife, Grace (Smith) Trafton, died in 2003. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Norma Joslyn and Helen Adams. SERVICES: A funeral service for Chet will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in the Lucas and Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York. Burial will follow in the First Parish Cemetery.
