Ida Marie Tate Fraley, 86, of the Crackers Neck community, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (June 18, 2008) at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. She was born in Osaka, Va., the daughter of the late Peter and Laura (Gilley) Tate. She lived most of her life in the Crackers Neck community. She attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap, where she was a member of the Loyal Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Big Stone Gap O.E.S. #157. Mrs. Fraley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.K. Fraley; her parents; eight brothers, Guy Tate, Elijah Tate, Charlie Tate, Howard Tate, Woodrow Tate, Bob Tate, Creed Tate and James Polk Tate; and two sisters, Mollie Tate and Easter Tate Vanhook. Surviving are her daughter, Connie Cooper and husband, Tom of Big Stone Gap; her son, Jerry Fraley and Louise Palmer of Big Stone Gap; four grandchildren, Sue Ellen Burton and husband, Robbie, Chris Fraley and wife, Cindy, all of Big Stone Gap, Matt Cooper and wife, Toni of Fincastle, Va. and Jonathan Cooper of Orlando, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Evan Burton, Haley Burton, Tessa Burton, Megan Fraley, Christopher Fraley, Alan Bayse and Chase Cooper; one brother, Fleet Tate of Big Stone Gap; and several nieces and nephews. He was born August 7, 1922, in Russell County, the son of the late Isaac B. and Beulah Glenn Davis. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Virginia State Police as a trooper with 31 years of service. He was a member of the Staunton Masonic Lodge #13 for over 50 years. He also belonged to Staunton-Augusta County Civic Club for many years. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife of 60 years, family members include a brother, Winston B. Davis of Richmond; and 11 nieces and nephews, Kay Carter, Lynn Hill, Bill Hanger, Jane Hanger, Tom Bowles, Neal Bowles, Sarah Stacy, Leigh Ann Riggleman, Mike Davis, Linda Stinson, and Brenda Jenkins.
