She was born Oct. 28, 1896 in Araguari, Brazil, the daughter of the late Rev. Charles Read Morton and Mary Thompson Morton, Presbyterian missionaries, who died in her infancy. She was reared in the home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. S.G. Howison in Fredericksburg. Mrs. Sterrett was married to the late Madison McClung Sterrett, a prominent farmer and civic leader who died in 1975. The historic Sterrett farm was known in earlier years as Mulberry Grove. She was a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Fredericksburg Normal School. Mrs. Sterrett is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bruce Alexander Lipscomb of Fairfield; a son, Madison McClung Sterrett Jr.; three sisters [note: they were actually her first cousins with whom she was raised in Fredericksburg], Mrs. J. Brooks Smith of Baltimore, MD, Miss Mary Graham Howison and Mrs. W.T. Stephens, both of Fredericksburg; a half-sister, Mrs. Marion J. Murray of High Point, N.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The Rev. Thomas T. Biggs conducted a funeral yesterday at the New Providence Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Eunice Wade Baldwin, 102, of Doran, left for her heavenly home on Monday, May 22, 2006 from Tazewell Community Hospital. She was born Oct. 14, 1903 in Tazewell County, Va., to the late Walter and Molly Wade. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She devoted her entire life as a homemaker and mother to her 11 children. She was faithful to her church, her faith in God and her family. She was loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Baldwin was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Watts Baldwin; one daughter, Ola Gay Arnold; four sons, Bane, D.C., Norman and Shirl Baldwin; two brothers, Rufus "Peach" Wade and Carl Wade; two sisters, Edith Smith and Stella Gillespie; one granddaughter, Patty Jean Baldwin; and one great-granddaughter, Kimberly Diane Baldwin. She is survived by three daughters, Inez Kimbrell, widow of the late Don Kimbrell of Raven, Va., Ruth Meadows and husband Ed of Fredericktown, Ohio, and Wanda Griffith and husband Russell of Richlands, Va.; three sons, Ted Baldwin and wife Pansy of Cedar Bluff, Va., Sherman Baldwin of Tazewell, Va., and Marty Baldwin of Doran; two sisters, Gladys Boyd of Richlands and Vinnie Newberry of Newport News, Va. Also, surviving are 27 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 18 great, great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great, great nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends. Homegoing celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2006 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with the Rev. Eddie Baldwin, the Rev. Danny Bostic and the Rev. Clarence Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Tom Chambers Cemetery at Shortt Gap, Va. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
