He was a native of Washington County, and lived near Abingdon most of his life, having operated the Lebanon Milling Company, in Lebanon, Whites Mill near Abingdon, and Light Milling Company, in Abingdon before retirement in 1948. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Charles Hyter, Greendale, Virginia; Mrs. Roy Light, Bristol, Virgina; Mrs. Robert Cannon, Kingsport; Mrs. Walker Donald, Dalton, Georgia; Mrs. C. E. Akers, Abingdon; one brother, James Kestner, Huntington, West Virginia; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren.
