OBITUARY
Information was obtained from his obituary in the Douglas Budget May 25, 1978.
Henry had worked on many ranches in and around the country when he was younger but in his later years he had worked mostly on construction until taken ill in June of 1971; after which he spent most of his time at home, until July of 1976 when he had to be placed in a nursing home where he remained until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Edith, of the family home in Douglas; two sons David of Casper and Richard of Douglas; and one granddaughter Billie Jo of Casper. Also surviving are two brothers: Ted of Lusk and John of Harrison, Neb.; five sisters, Millie Zimmerman, Hilda Eberspecher, Alma Henry, Bertha Parsons, and Fern Bourret, all of Harrison, Nebr.; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Charlie, Johnnie, Chris, Frank and Tom.

OBITUARY
Jake M. McINTOSH, 57, of R.R. 3, LaGrange, died Thursday, November 1, 1990, in the LaGrange Hospital.
He was born in Bartley, W. Va., February 5, 1933, the son of Benjamin and Maggie (CHRISTIAN) McINTOSH.
McINTOSH, a U.S. Army veteran, moved from Bartley to LaGrange 1 1/2 years ago.
Surviving are a sister, Ola TEASLEY of Fort Washington, Md., and a nephew, Tom CHRISTIAN of LaGrange.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m in the Raysal Church in Raysal, W. Va.
There were no local services.
Burial was in Gross Cemetery in Cow Holler Mountain, W. Va.
Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home of Kendallville was in charge of arrangements.

James L. Burt, age 71, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Denton, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at Lynn Creek Cemetery in Jack County with James Bennett of Los Colinas, Texas officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
James was born on April 4, 1941 to the late Roy W. and Iva Lorene (Price) Burt in Sulfur Springs, Texas. He married Patricia Ann Taylor in Sugarland, Texas on February 14, 1965. They had been married for thirty-five years. She passed away on February 29, 2000. James had been an oilfield consultant, and a licensed pilot. James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Troy Leon Burt, and a sister, Lora Mae Wright.
Survivors include two sons: Christopher Todd Burt of Monahans, Texas, and Phillip James of Azle, Texas; two daughters:Joyce "Camille" Bryant and husband Jimmy of Midland, Texas and Cindy Michelle Billings of Freer, Texas; a brother, L.C. Burt and wife Ann of Frisco, Texas; three sisters: Dorcas Roach of Electra, Texas, Cora Henderson and husband Edward of Olney, Texas, and Minnie Turner of Frisco, Texas; seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 7-8 pm at the funeral home.

Janie Marie (Lawhorn) Rowe, 90, of 559 Lofton Road, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2015, in Fishersville, Virginia surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Rowe was born on Oct. 13, 1924, a daughter of the late Houston Theodore and Minnie Bell (Fitzgerald) Campbell Lawhorn.
On June 22, 1946, she married Joseph Franklin Rowe and they shared a blessed union of 47 years before his passing on Oct. 6, 1993. She was a lifelong member of Mount Joy Presbyterian Church and was retired from Hollister.
Mrs. Rowe was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in the Lofton area, and continued living there her entire life, raising her five children, and hosting family gatherings for her always growing number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those were times that will always be remembered and cherished by her family. She also had a love for flowers and gardening, a passion that was passed down to many in her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Freda R. Hays; brothers, Junior Lawhorn, Theodore Lawhorn, Bill Lawhorn, and Raymond Campbell; sisters, Mary Myrtle and Jean Moran. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include sons, Roger L. Rowe, Larry J. (Pete) Rowe and wife, Alicia; daughters Reda R. Hendricks, Shirley R. Wolfe and husband, Wayne; son-in-law, Roger D. Hays; special friend, Frances Rowe; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015, in Henry Funeral and other times at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in Mount Joy Presbyterian Church by Pastor David Taylor and Pastor Fred Salmons. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Vernon Rowe, Brian Hays, Kevin Wolfe, David Rowe, Joseph Rowe and Aaron Rowe.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice?s Shenandoah House for their compassion and excellent care given to Mrs. Rowe.

Jeannette "Jan" (Jarry) Whitaker, 88, of Windsor, beloved wife for 64 years of Charlie L. Whitaker, passed away on Wednesday, (April 25, 2012) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Newark, NJ, daughter of Madison and Jane (Swinsberg) Jarry, she grew up in Elizabeth, NJ and lived in Bloomfield, NJ, before moving to Windsor 65 years ago. When her son played little league, she volunteered at the refreshment stand at the Clover Street School during the games. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jane Whitaker of Windsor; her son, Gary L. Whitaker and his wife Margie, and their son, Nolan L. Whitaker, all of Windsor. She was predeceased by a brother and sister in New Jersey. Joe Howard Buckles, 77, of Fauquier County died Friday, April 10, 2009, at Mary Washington Hospital. He fought a long battle with heart and lung disease, but always had a positive attitude, a good sense of humor and a great love of life.
Born in Coaldale, W.Va., Mr. Buckles had retired as plant chief from the print plant at Fort Belvoir. He had also retired from the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. as a part-time bookkeeper. He was a 50-year Mason and belonged to Frank P. Moncure Lodge 279 and Edward Cann Daylight Lodge 1752. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Stafford County.
He is survived by a daughter, Wanda C. Neal of Fauquier; three grandchildren, Larry E. Neal and his wife, Sherry Rose Neal, Kelly Ann Lester and her husband, Benny Lester Jr., and Joe W. Swerchek and his wife, Shannon Swerchek; six great-grandchildren, Alan Ray Lester, Laura Nell Lester, Larry E. Neal II, Zachary Tyler Neal, Joe William Swerchek Jr. and "adopted" daughter of 40 years Ann Follin of Hague. He is also survived by three nephews, Timmy Mullins, Todd Mullins and Terry Mullins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, G. Nell Buckles; his youngest daughter, Katie Jo Buckles; his brother, Jimmie E. Buckles; his sister, Anna Jean Mullins; and his parents, Ollie Burns Buckles and Maggie Nash Buckles.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 13, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel, where a funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday, April 14. Pastor Bill Kittle and the Rev. Paul Curry will officiate. Interment will follow in Rock Hill Baptist Church cemetery, Rock Hill Church Road, Stafford. A meal for family and friends will be provided at Rock Hill Baptist Church following the services.

John Green DeHart Jr. of Lexington died Monday, July 20,2009.
His wife of 60 years, Ruth Marie DeHart, died June 9, 2009, and a joint service will be conducted this Saturday, Aug. 29, at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Sebby Volpe.
He was born on July 11, 1927, in Anawalt, W.Va., the son of John Green DeHart and Roxie Irene Hale.
He was preceded in death by one grandson.
He is survived by a brother, Albert Leon DeHart of Lynchburg; two daughters, Brenda DeHart Srb and Camellia DeHart Pierce; one grandson; and four great-grandchildren
He began his railroad career in Narrows in 1942 at the Virginian Railroad Powerhouse.
After working for the Norfolk and Western Railroad and Amtrak, he retired from the CSX Corp. in 1985 and lived in the Kerrs Creek area.

John Wood Payne, Jr., 93 of Warrenton, VA passed away on Dec. 27, 2014 at Fauquier Hospital.
He was born on August 31, 1921 in Fauquier County a son of the late John Wood Payne, Sr. and Mary Alma Honey Payne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June Elizabeth Payne.
Mr. Payne was retired from Fairfax County and enjoyed farming on the family property near Orlean.
He is survived by his children, Sue Payne Kenworthy and Larry D. Payne and his wife Sandra K. Payne; two grandchildren, Emily K. Bair and her husband Ryan Bair and Jason D. Payne and five great grandchildren.

Johnny Gordon Teeters Sr., 70, of Maxton, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.
He was the son of Gordon and Eugena Teeters, born in McMinnville, TN, on Dec. 24, 1942.
Johhny was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was the owner and operator of Maxton Motors for 38 years. He had a passion for buying and selling cars, loved drag racing, fast cars and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Teeters; brother, Quinton Teeters; and sister, Betty Teeters.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Teeters of the home; sons, Johnny G. Teeters Jr. of Texas, Steven W. Esther Westra, formerly on Kalamazoo, went to her eternal home on June 24, 2009, at the age of 94. Esther was born on November 4, 1914, in Penola, Virginia, to Dr. Luther Jerrell and Lucy Head. She graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with a degree in nursing, and headed to the University of Michigan to earn her certificate in public health nursing. There she met Peter Westra, whom she married on September 17, 1940.
Peter preceded her in death in 1986, as did their daughter Patricia in 1995. Esther is survived by six children and their spouses, Elsa and John VanHekken (Indianapolis, IN); Elizabeth and Donald Retsema (Oaklawn, IL); Jack and Muriel Westra (Kalamazoo); Rachel and Douglas Plasman (Grand Rapids); Richard Westra (Grand Rapids); and Rebecca and Michael Winegar (Portage). She is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Rose Westra; a brother-in-law Johan Westra; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther retired from the Visiting Nurse Association in 1986, and served as a VNA hospice volunteer well into her eighties. She was a long time member of Second Christian Reformed Church. She continued to serve her Lord and others by volunteering in many different capacities. She will long be remembered for her generous spirit, her hospitality, and her ready smile.
The family wishes to thank all those who treasured Esther throughout her lifetime and those who loved and cared for her at Breton Manor.
Visitation will be held at Joldersma and Klein Funeral Home 6-8 PM on Friday June 26, 2009 and at the church one hour prior to the 11:00 service on Saturday June 27, 2009. Ada Rose Wright, 88, Independence, MO, passed away Friday, December 17, 1999, at the Independence Regional Health Center.

Mrs. Wright was born June 13, 1911 in Cameron, Missouri, the sixth child Henry and Icey Rice. Ada was married to Joseph Lyle Wright on March 4, 1933. Ada and Joseph lived in California for several years, and returned to the Kansas City area in 1950. Ada and Joseph were very active in the RLDS Church. Ada had been a member of the Buckner Restoration Branch and the Rosewood Restoration Branch.
Ada was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lyle Wright on December 6, 1991. Ada was a devoted mother, and is survived by two sons, Lyle D. Wright, Independence, MO, and Ramon L. Wright, Bonner Springs, KS; two daughters, Vanice G. Maitland, Independence, MO, and DuVonne A. Campbell, Albuquerque, NM; a sister, Minerva J. Myers, Monnett, MO; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Weber City John Paul Blanton, 83 of Weber City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Bristol Hospice House following a brief illness.
He was in the Virginia National Guard, 276 Engineering Battalion headquartered in Gate City. He was past president of the Gate City Jaycees and held several positions on state level. He was owner and operator of Scott County Lumber and Hardware.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, and mother of his son, Virginia Shepherd Blanton; his second wife, Ruth Tipton Blanton.
John is survived by his son, Michael Blanton and wife Melissa; step-daughter, April Gillenwater; grandchildren, Michelle Blanton Graham and husband Jordan and John Thomas Blanton; great-grandchildren, Riley Graham and Hudson Graham; step-grandson, Bryson Gillenwater; brother, Harold Blanton and wife Betty Lou Blanton.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating. Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery. Jerry Dean Musick, Sr., age 65, of LaFollette, passed away June 21 at Baptist Hospital of East TN. He was a member of Ford Town Baptist Church and was a retired Electrical Bio/Medical Engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nola Musick; granddaughters, Erica and Allisa Musick; brothers, Benny, Bobby and Charles (Bud) Musick.

The people of Hebron received the sad news Tuesday morning that Mrs. James Rice had died very suddenly at her home Monday night at 11 o'clock, of heart disease. She had been about her usual household duties during the day, and retired early. In the night her daughter Lucy heard her making a slight noise and by the time she could investigate the cause she was dead.
The deceased was about 58 years of age, was a member of the congregational church and a loyal worker of the W. C. T. U. She leaves two children, Miss Lucy and Dr. C. M. Rice, of Rose Lawn, also a step daughter, Mrs. Bertha Henry, and a loving husband, James Rice, to mourn her loss. Funeral at the house at 1 o'clock, Thursday.

Hebron Woman Dies Suddenly
Hebron and vicinity was deeply shocked this morning to learn of the sudden and entirely unexpected death of Mrs. James Rice, which occurred last night at eleven o'clock. She had been around Hebron yesterday afternoon and appeared to be in her usual health. Death was due to an attack of heart trouble. Mrs. Rice was about 60 years of age and is survived by her husband and three children. She was a prominent church member and well known as a W.C.T.U. worker.

The deceased had been in poor health for some time and about two weeks ago went to the home of his son where he gradually failed, until called by the death angel.
The remains were brought to his home here Saturday, accompanied by his daughters Mrs. Bertha Henry and Miss Lucie Rice, both who are teachers in Illinois. Lloyd Sherrill West, age 68, of Route 5 Box 69 (Airport Road), Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington. Born on April 9, 1943 in Warriormine, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Billie Wallace West. He had been a resident of Bluefield for 40 years and was a member of the Bluefield Virginia Church of God. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked in the guided missile program. He was the owner and operator of Technical Services Associates.
Survivors include one sister, Karen Eggleston and brother-in-law Steve of Huntington; niece, Andrea Megan Fry and Mike of Huntington; 2-year-old great-niece, Felicity Fry.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bluefield Virginia Church of God with the Reverend Tony Ellis officiating. Edward Rice of Hebron Dies at County Infirmary
Edward Rice, well known Hebron resident, died at 10:15 o'clock this morning at the Porter county Infirmary.
He had been an inmate of the institution since March 14, 1940, when he suffered a health break.
The decedent was 65 years of age and for many years was employed by Olo Nicols, Hebron bridge contractor.
The body was taken to the Phillips funeral home in Hebron pending burial arrangements.

James V. Rice Is Killed By Auto (30 Jan 1967)
James V. Rice, 61, a vice-president of W.L. Miller, Inc., an insurance agency was killed at 9:05 last night as he crossed Norris Place near Deer Lane, Police said. His office was at 543 S. Third.
Rice of 14 Ridge Road, suffered chest injuries and compound fractures of both legs. Chief Deputy Coroner William Anderson reported.
Patrolmen James Allen and Robert Ramsey said Rice was hit by an automobile driven by Charles T. Brown, 49, of 9042 Fern Creek Rd. Brown said Rice ran into the street several feet from the intersection of Norris Place and Deer Lane, and he was unable to avoid striking him. No charges were filed.
Rice was a native of Roselawn, Ind., and came to Louisville 25 years ago from Chicago. He was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church and a former member of Big Spring Golf Club and the Pendennis Club.
Survivors include his widow, the former Margaret Elliott; a daughter, Mrs. Carl A. Pallo; four brothers, Burgess J., William K., and Dr. C. Malcolm Rice all of Chicago, and John H. Rice, St. Louis; a sister Mrs. Murrell Thomas, Oklahoma City, Okla., and two grand-children.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m., Thursday at Pearson's, 149 Breckinridge Lane. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Heart Fund.

Insurance Firm Vice President Killed by Auto
A 61-year-old insurance firm executive was killed about 9:05 last night when he was struck by a car as he crossed Norris Place in the 1600 block.
James V. Rice, 14 Ridge Road, a vice president of W.L. Miller, Inc. with offices at 543 S. Third, died of internal injuries, Chief Deputy Coroner, William Anderson said. He suffered severe injuries to the chest and compound fractures of both legs, Anderson said.
City Patrolmen James Allen and Robert Ramsey said Rice was hit by a car driven by Charles T. Brown, 49, of 9042 Fern Creek Rd. Brown told police Rice ran into the street in the middle of the block and that he was unable to avoid hitting him. No charges were filed.
Rice's death was the 10th traffic fatality in Louisville this year. At this time last year, there had been nine traffic deaths, and the 10th did not come until Feb. 11, 1966.
The body was taken to Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckinridge Lane.

Lucille Owens, 92, of Crossville, passed away July 25, 2004. Funeral services were conducted July 28 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with burial in Green Acres Memory Gardens. Bro. Bill Roberts officiated.
Mrs. Owens was born July 24, 1912 in Hansonville, VA, the daughter of John and Emily A. Mays Holt. She was a homemaker and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She graduated from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, VA in 1935. On Jan. 5, 1939, she married her husband of 65 years, Paul E. Owens.
Survivors include her husband, Paul E. Owens of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Nick and Cindy Owens of Crossville and Terry and Amy Owens of San Antonio, TX; sister, Maude Weddle of Bristol, TN; grandchildren, Tiffany Coughlin, Buffy Stancel, Holly Owens, Leigh Ann Owens, Tiffiny Thomasson, Tami Thomasson and Matt Thomasson; and great-grandchildren, Abigail Coughlin, Carter Coughlin and Dante Thomasson.
Pallbearers were Ralph Padgett, Gordon Hedgecoth, Morris Kendrick, Red Turner, John Eldridge and James Perry.
Honorary pallbearers were the Memorial Baptist Middle Men Sunday school class.

MANSFIELD: GARY L. BREEDLOVE, 66, of Mansfield, died Friday, December 4, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield.
Born May 24, 1949 in Richlands, Virginia, he was the son of William "Willie" and Dorothy (Phillips) Breedlove.
He was a 1967 graduate of Mansfield Senior High and loved sports and being around family and friends.
He is survived by three brothers, Lawrence Breedlove, Darrell Breedlove and Mike Breedlove, all of Mansfield; three nephews, Matthew, Willie and Jeremy Breedlove, all of Mansfield; and two nieces, Shani Breedlove and Ebony Breedlove Olar, both of Galion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany, and he was employed as a mail handler with the U.S. Postal Service in Roanoke.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Charles.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Lula Charles, are his wife, Virginia Ann Charles, a Henry County native; three children, Brian Kipling Via, Kimberly Nichole Via and Mary Louise Musselman; two brothers, William and John Charles; and two sisters, Shirley Blackner and Ora R. Farley M. Adair, age 59, of Dunham Road, Mount Vernon, died on Wednesday July 16, 2003 at his home. Mr. Adair was born on June 2, 1944 in Welch, West Virginia. He was the adopted son of Thomas F. and Martha F. Adair.
Mr. Adair was a member and deacon of the Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of the city of Dayton, Ohio where he had been employed as a Dayton Police Officer, Air Port police officer and Assistant Chief of Airport Police. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police (John C. Post Lodge-Dayton, Ohio), The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union (AFSCME) Local 101, The American Federation of Police and an associate member of the Ohio Association of Chief?s of Police. Mr. Adair was a 1961 graduate of Centerburg High School. A 1964 Graduate of the Ohio State School of Cosmetology and a 1966 graduate of the Dayton Police Academy. He also attended numerous police training courses during his professional career.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, 6 months, and 14 days, Sharon M. Glass-Adair. He is also survived by one adoptive brother, McGennis E. Adair Sr., an adoptive sister, Nora E. Short and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his adoptive parents, he was preceded in death by two adoptive brothers, John and Frederick Adair.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 9PM. A graveside service will be held on Thursday July 24, 2003 at 11 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery near Orlando, Florida. His nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mason D. Phillips, age 68 of Deerfield Drive, Newark and formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday December 28, 2003 at his residence. He was born on September 6, 1935 in Tazewell County, Virginia to the late Jackson and Nonie (Smith) Phillips. Mr. Phillips retired in 1996 after working 32 years as a machinist for Jervis B. Webb. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church at Rich Hill and the Ironworkers Shopmens Local 820.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Shelvie (Whited) Phillips, a son, David (Deborah) Phillips of Mount Vernon, two daughters, Theresa (John) Laurell of Newark, Connie McDowell of Mount Vernon, six grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) McDowell, Eric McDowell, Dana Phillips, James Phillips, Kurt Thayer, Jessica (Tyler) Murphy, a brother, Frank (Shirley) Phillips of Swords Creek, Virginia, and two sisters, Dorothy Breedlove of Mansfield and Lillie (Albert) Bostic of Loudonville.

McMinnville resident and Cagle, TN native Everett Randall Seals, age 71, was born October 2, 1941 and died January 19, 2013 at River Park Hospital following a prolonged illness.
A retired employee of Calsonic, a United States Army veteran and a member of Grace Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Milton Cobert and Bonnie Lee Tate Seals.
He was married August 31, 1987 to Gayla Clark Seals of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Everett Randall and Leah Seals, Jr. of Trourman, NC, Renee and Greg Hancock of Viola, TN and Misty Renee Wright of McMinnville; seven grandchildren; one brother, Michael David Seals of Trenton, GA; two sisters, Doris Roberts of McMinnville and Evelyn Mourlas of Arlington Heights, IL; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in High's Chapel with Michael Seals officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Stackpole, Thomas J. Age 58, died unexpectedly on October 28, 2010. He was born September 1, 1952, in Brookfield, the son of Charles R. and Jean (Roughen) Stackpole.
Tom attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Grade School, Catholic Memorial High School and the University of Wisconsin - Superior. He formerly had worked for American Family Insurance in Duluth and currently was the owner / operator of Frontier Adjusters of Superior and Duluth.
His love of the outdoors was evident by his home in Superior that was surrounded by 40 acres of woods and his passion for hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents Charles and Jean Stackpole, Tom is survived by brothers John C. (Sandra Hendersen) Stackpole of Richfield, WI and Dr. William Stackpole of Stacey, MN; sisters Mary M. Stackpole of Pittsburgh, PA and Ann (Dr. David) Wren of Raleigh, NC. He is further survived by nieces Mary Elizabeth and Helen, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was the son of the late Rev. Grat Marvin & Chorilda Ann Whited Horton. He Was Preceded In Death by his maternal grandparents, Preston Fipps and Eunice England Elkins Whited; his paternal grandparents, Christopher Mays and Grace Chambers Horton; sister, Thelma Horton Osborne; mother-in-law, Goldie Cole Breeding; sister-in-law, Virginia Renie Crigger Horton; and brother-in-laws, John Cordle Jr. & Danny Lee Roberts.
He Was A Former Employee Of Mattie Williams Hospital & Clinch Valley Clinic Hospital. He Was a disabled employee Of S&S Machinery Corporation and was a member Of The Richlands Tabernacle. He was an avid outdoors man who especially loved to fish and hunt and he enjoyed woodworking in his workshop.

Mr. Frank E. Phillips, age 82, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Thursday (November 20, 2014) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital following a lengthy illness. Born March 17, 1932 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Jackson and Nona Colley Phillips. He was a 1952 graduate of Honaker High School and had lived in Chicago for forty years before moving back to southwest Virginia. He was a member of the Swords Creek Block Church and had formerly been employed as a truck mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pansy Trula Whited Phillips, his second wife, Shirley Horton Phillips, one brother, Mason Phillips, and one sister, Dorothy Breedlove.
Survivors include one son, Stephen Phillips of Swords Creek; three step-children, Ella Jane Horton of Swords Creek, Melissa Barrett of Honaker, and Thomas Horton of Rosedale; two grandchildren, Johnny Phillips and Cheri Phillips both of Chicago, Illinois; one great-grandson, Cole Phillips; one sister, Lillie Bostic of Loudenville, Ohio; four step-grandchildren, Sarah Stiltner, Benjamin Barrett, Amanda Horton, and Matthew Horton; three step-great-grandchildren, Evan Stiltner, Mason Horton and Connor Horton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was of the Old Regular Baptist faith and a retired coal miner.

Mr. George W. Clark, age 80, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, in a Lebanon nursing facility. Born March 13, 1924, in Tazewell County, he was a son of the late John H. and Maxie Willis Clark, both Buchanan County natives.
He spent his early life in the Buchanan County are, before moving to Honaker in 1950. A retired coal miner, he was employed by Clinchfield Coal Company and was a member of UMWA Local 1256. He was a member of Swords Creek Block Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Carmie McGlothlin Clark of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law; Jerry and Judy Clark, Roger and Frankie Clark and Bobby and Cathy Clark, all of Honaker; three grandsons, Chris Clark, Joe Clark and W. Born March 5, 1944 in Venia, Virginia, he was a son of the late Elder Andrew and Pearl Honaker McGlothlin. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Primitive Baptist faith. A disabled coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Island Creek Coal Company at the VP #6 mine and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Ann McGlothlin and Vinnie Pearl McGlothlin, one brotherin-law, in/in Ball, Jr. and two sisters-in-law, Martha McGlothlin and Lula McGlothlin.
Survivors include his wife of forty-five years, Sue Helton McGlothlin of the home; one daughter, Teresa McGlothlin Austin and husband, Anthony of Lebanon; one son, Edgar McGlothlin and wife, Jennifer of Bedford; four grandchildren, Jeffrey McGlothlin, Jessica McGlothlin, Travis McGlothlin, and Kaitlyn Austin; two sisters, Martha Ball of Honaker and Dollie Compton and husband, Eugene of Lebanon; seven brothers, Wayne McGlothlin, Dallas McGlothlin and wife, Lizzie, Carlis McGlothlin, and Memphis

Mr. John Lee Cantrell, age 61, of Cliffield, Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born July 29, 1945 in Buchanan County, VA he was the son of the late James W. and Goldie Jane McGlothlin Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell was a retired coal miner having worked for 38 years with various coal mining companies. He was a member of the UMWA Local 1760 and attended the Cliffield Church of Christ.
Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his wife Bertina L. "Judy" Cantrell, his parents and one brother James Lewis Cantrell.
He is survived by his son Gary Cantrell and his wife Linda of Thompson Valley, Va.; his daughter Donna Cantrell of N. Tazewell, Va.; three grandchildren, Mason Lee Colley, Leanna Cantrell and Steven Cantrell; fiancé', Barbara Whitt of Pounding Mill, Va.; five sisters, Annabelle McDonald and her husband John of Sunland, CA; Naomi McFrederick of Ashland, OH; Erma Horn and her husband Joe of Grays Branch, Cedar Bluff, Va.; Mary Crawford of Cliffield, Va.; and Carrie Hammond also of Grays Branch, Cedar Bluff, Va.; his brother, Oris Cantrell and his wife Peggy of Raven, Va.; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr.Reginald "Reggie" Keither Blevins, Jr. age 68 of Critz, Virginia passed away at his home on Saturday morning. He was born in Richlands, VA on November 15, 1944 to the late Roy Keither Blevins and Pauline " Peachy" Lockhart Blevins. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blevins was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney "Chip" Blevins. Reggie was a 1963 graduate of Tazwell High School and received his degree in education form Aurora University in Chicago, IL. He served his country as a proud Marine during the Vietnam War. Reggie retired from Stuart Elementary School after 30 years in education during which he had served as head basketball coach at Richlands and was dedicated to his students. He was a life long Cubs fan who loved hunting, fishing, antiquing and music. Reggie above all was a devoted and loving; husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend.

Harold A. Lambert, 66, Mt. Vernon, died 6:28 p.m., Dec 14, 1991, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
He was born July 20, 1925, in Hamilton County, a son of Harvey A. and Ellen (Campbell) Lambert. Aug. 25, 1950, in St. Louis, he married Geraldine "Jerry" Gaulden, who survives.
Mr. Lambert retired from Johnson Controls in St. Louis after 37 years as a pipe fitter. Mr. Lambert was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 141 of Mt. Vernon, of Pipe Fitters Union No. 562 of St. Louis, and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1376.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lambert is survived by two daughters. Lisa Lambert and Carole "Mickey" Lambert, both of Mt. Vernon; one stepson, Michael Steele of St. Louis; one brother, Randall Lambert and wife, Marilyn, of Bloomington; four step-grandchildren; and three nephews.

Mr. Vanstone died of a heart condition Saturday at his home in Donelson.
He was a retired director of purchasing at Clover Bottom Development Center in Donelson, a former administrator of Hubband Hospital and retired Captain in the Royal Army Education Corps in England.
Mr. Vanstone was a native of Stockleigh-Pomroy, England, and a son of the late William Henry and Phoebe Conbeer Vanstone. He was married the former Annie Laurie Anderson.
He was a graduate of the YMCA Law School, now the Nashville School of Law.
Mr. Vanstone was a veteran of World War II and a German prisoner of war for five years.
He was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church. He was a former member of Hermitage Presbyterian Church, where he served as chairman of the board of deacons adn chairman of the church's troop committee of Boy Scout Troop 30.
Mr. Vanstone was a former member of the downtown Lions Club and the American College of Hospital Administrators.
Survivors besides his wife include a daughter, Roslyn McGee of Signal Mountain; two sons, Keith C. Vanstone and G. Blair Vanstone, both of Hermitage; and five grandchildren, Abigail, Sara and Will McGee, Susan and Dana Vanstone.

Col. Thomas Clyde McSwain Jr. (retired, U.S. Air Force,) 64, of Shepherdstown, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at his residence, surrounded by his family, while under the care of Hospice.
Born Dec. 29, 1945, in Lexington, Va., he was the son of the late Thomas Clyde McSwain Sr. and Isabel Sterrett Anderson McSwain.
Col. McSwain entered the Air Force through Officer Training School in 1969 after graduating from the University of Virginia with a bachelor of science degree in commerce. He served during his first two assignments as a commissary officer at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, and Anderson AFB, Guam. While on Guam, he became the chief of services with a follow-on assignment at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, as chief of services. Col. McSwain then attended the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, and graduated with a master of science degree in logistics management.
In May 1989, Col. McSwain was assigned to Headquarters, Tactical Air Command as the director of housing and services. Soon thereafter, as a member of the U.S. Central Air Forces' Rear Battle Staff during Desert Storm, he was the driving force behind food service, lodging, mortuary, laundry and exchange support for more than 55,000 Air Force people at 25 sites in five countries across the Arabian Peninsula.
He retired May 31, 1996, as the director of services, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. Col. McSwain is a graduate of Air War College and Air Command and Staff College. His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was president of Locust Hill Graveyard Foundation, treasurer with the Jamestown Society and a member of Washington Assembly. He also was a fourth great-nephew of Meriwether Lewis.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Shepherdstown.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jane Crane McSwain; two daughters and their spouses, Kristin McSwain and Natalie Rivkin McSwain of Boston and Kimberly Check and Robert Paul Check of Poquoson, Va.; three grandchildren, Robert McCandlish Check, Thomas Jay Check and Anderson James Rivkin McSwain; one sister, Susan McSwain Lee of Chesapeake, Va.; five nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Shepherdstown, with the Rev. G.T. Schramm officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

An avid golfer and bridge player, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Down To Earth Garden Club. She was also a sustaining member of the Reidsville Junior Service League.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hooper; a sister, Katherine McIntyre White and two brothers, B.C. McIntyre, Jr. and John Merritt McIntyre.

Mary Frances Taylor McClung, 91, of Lexington, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Mrs. McClung was born March 11, 1916 in Rockbridge County, and was a daughter of the late Carl Hammond Taylor and Carey Campbell Taylor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Brainard McClung; sister-in-law, Senora McClung Bogert and a niece,Ann Henry Sherman.
She also furthered her education by graduating from James Madison University and the State Teachers College. She went on from there and taught at the Meriwether Lewis School in Ivy, Va. and Rivermont School in Covington, Va. She retired after teaching for the Lexington School System at Highland Belle and Central.
She was a member of the Lexington Prebyterian Church, the Rockbridge Business and Professional Women's Club and the Virginia and Rockbridge County Retired Teacher's Organizations.
