Ready to meet his Lord, Eugene Grover Lockhart, Sr., age 74, of 437 Old Lerona Road, Lerona, W.Va., joined the church triumphant Saturday, March 7, 2009 at his home with his wife of 51 years at his side. Born February 13, 1935 at Isaban, W.Va., he was the son of the late Grover C. and Maxie Blankenship Lockhart. Eugene was the grandson of the late Enos and Darcus Kennedy Blankenship and the late William Snyder and Nancy Cline Lockhart. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Keith Lockhart and Delmas Lewis Lockhart. Eugene was a graduate of Iaeger High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Army Security Agency. Eugene was a member of the United Methodist Church and attended Painters Chapel UMC in Speedway, W.Va. He was a member of the Gideons, Concord Masonic Lodge, Athens #33 Order of the Eastern Star, and United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include his wife, Doris Jean Matherly Lockhart, of the home; three daughters, Reverend Canessa Stafford (and husband Kenneth) of Statesville, N.C.; Veneicia Lockhart of Haymarket, Va.; Mary Maxine ?Mimi? Fuchs (and husband Tim) of Columbus Ohio; one son, Eugene Grover Lockhart, Jr., of Canton Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Christopher Henderson (and wife Leath), Amanda Stafford, Amber Lockhart, Cody Lockhart, Charley Fuchs, Abbegail Fuchs and Allison Lockhart. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Painters Chapel UMC, with the Reverend Tommy Mounts officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery. Born in York, Maine, Dec. 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Gertrude (Heath) Trafton and was a graduate of York High School, Class of 1952. Mrs. Chase had worked as a claims examiner for Prudential Insurance Company in their Boston office until they closed that facility. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing puzzles and was an avid animal lover and supporter of various animal organizations. Her survivors include her sisters, Betty Walker and husband Colston of Shalimar, Fla.; Barbara Trafton of Kernersville, N.C.; Eileen Hanson and husband Lloyd of Eliot, Maine; her brother, Ernest Trafton and wife Pamela of Cape Neddick, Maine; as well as several nieces, nephews, dear friends and her beloved cat, Rusty. She was predeceased by her nephew, Gene Hanson. A graveside service for relatives and friends will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac. Age 68, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2004, at his home in Sutherlin, Oregon, after a lengthy illness. Wally was born on July 14, 1935, on an Island near Monroe, Oregon, to Ferris and Minni (Christian) Walden, who preceded him in death. He grew up and attended schools in Alpine and Monroe, Oregon. Wally was very proud of his pioneer heritage. His great-grandfather, Andrew and his two brothers were part of the Treacherous ?Lost Wagon Train of 1853?. The 1200 family wagon train who traveled down the middle fork of the Williamette River above Oakridge were forced to leave their wagons and walked out and through Eugene without even realizing it. Wally was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era and attained the rank of Sergeant. Wally is survived by his children, Jeffery and Andrew Walden, both of Prineville, Oregon; Rhonda Oakes of Tennessee; Lisa; Michael and his wife, Jenny Walden of Sutherlin; Denna and her husband, Lee Holm of Sutherlin; Rhonda and her husband, Dave Van Dolah of Dillard, Oregon; two sisters and spouses, Doris and Lester Hill of Eugene, Oregon; Maxine and Bill Berry of Springfield, Oregon; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife and good friend, Deloris Walden of Oakland, Oregon, two brothers, George and Bud Walden and one sister, Jean Freeman preceded him in death.
