Ferrell passed away peacefully on July 18, 2010 in Glendale, Arizona. John was born in Huntington, West Virginia on September 17, 1921. John's long and successful career as a property tax professional began with the Southern Pacific Railroad. After retiring from the railroad, he served as Deputy Tax Assessor Collector for the El Paso County Tax Office. He then started his own successful property tax consulting firm, John L. Ferrell Company. John also served as Chief Appraiser for Hudspeth, Jeff Davis and Presidio Counties. John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Priscilla; his children Sharon Wharam, Nancy Pixley (James) and John R. Ferrell (Monica); his grandchildren Richard and Linda Webb, Susan Popp, Cray Pixley, Matthew, Steven, Trenton and Chloe Ferrell; his great grandchildren Olivia and Fletcher Popp. John was a caring, generous and fun loving Irishman. He was a great storyteller, singer and enjoyed life to the fullest. John's family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to his primary caretaker for the past two and half years Gabriela Moisoiu of Arrowhead Meadows Assisted Living Home in Glendale, Arizona. Graveside services will be held in Phoenix, Arizona at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 24 at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary.
