OBITUARY

The Columbus Dispatch; 25 Feb 2014

Glada L. (Shelton) Bull, of Marion, Ohio, died at home after a brief illness on February 23, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 15, 1932 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late George C. and Nellie G. (McGlothlin) Shelton as the seventh of twelve children. Her family moved to Marion when she was in the seventh grade, and she graduated from Harding High School in 1950 where she was a member of the A Cappella Choir. She then worked for the Probst Supply Company where she met the man she would marry on June 30, 1957, Jack Bull of Marion who survives. When they became empty nesters, she returned to work as the office manager and bookkeeper for the Jack Bull and Associates Agency, a position she held for 20 years.

She was preceded in death in 1974 by her daughter Jane, as well as six of her 12 siblings. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Bull (Kathy Cleveland Bull) of Hilliard, Ohio and the Rev. Jonathan Bull (Terry) of Bellefontaine, Ohio; grandchildren, Haley and Mackenzie of Hilliard and Michael and Sarah of Bellefontaine; five of her siblings, Clay Burns of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, Kelly Shelton of Marion, Judith (Robert) Lehner of Marion, Dr. Dennis (Bette) Shelton of Harbor Springs, Michigan, and Rick (Haven) Shelton of Marion; in-laws, Dorothy Shelton of Yuma Arizona, Dr. Patricia Shelton of Melbourne, Florida, Joan Shelton of Marion, Barbara Bull Douthitt of Cincinnati, and John (Jan) Bull of Danville, Indiana; 28 nieces and nephews; numerous other extended family members; and many dear friends.

Glada's life was centered on her family and her unwavering faith. She lived, and died, with dignity, grace, strength, and love. She was a 58-year member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, and through the years its clergy, staff and congregation sustained her and provided countless outlets for her to volunteer and share her faith through a variety of its programs. She was a proud supporter of The Ohio State University at Marion and was honored that the board room in Maynard Hall was named in her and Jack's honor.

Calling hours will be held from to 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, February 27 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 South Prospect Street, Marion, Ohio, and the funeral will be held in the church sanctuary at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 28 with the Rev. Mark Schuring and AIM Kevin Kehn officiating. Additional visitation at 10 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery. Glada's family greatly appreciates the professional, gentle, and thoughtful care provided by the physicians and staff of Marion General Hospital, MGH Home Health Care and MGH Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the C. Jane Bull Scholarship Fund at The Ohio State University Foundation (Fund # 600943) or to the Glada Bull Memorial Fund at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.
