OBITUARY

Mrs. Carmie McGlothlin Clark, age 91, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Thursday (October 1, 2015) at her home. Born December 29, 1923 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Elbert Patton and Leah Victoria Hale McGlothlin. Carmie and her family moved to Russell County in 1950 and lived on a farm for many years. A devoted Christian, she attended the Swords Creek Block Church for over fifty years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Clark; one sister Dorothy Vandyke; two brothers, Nelson McGlothlin and Carson McGlothlin; and three nephews.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Judy Clark, Roger and Frankie Clark, Bobby and Cathy Clark all of Honaker, Virginia; three grandsons Chris Clark, Joe Clark and wife, Cindy, and W.J. Cole and Amanda; four granddaughters, Sandra Wilson and husband, David, Jamie Short and husband, David, Elizabeth Dolinger and husband, Charlie, and Elisha Clark; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia Vandyke and, husband, Alvie; three brothers, Clinton McGlothlin, Herman McGlothlin and wife, Ruth, Ferrell McGlothlin and wife, Lucille; special niece Cindy Hess and husband, Terry; several other nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Divine Home Care, Whitney Miller, Chelsea Salyer, and Kim Brewer for the compassionate and loving care given to their mother. Dr. Chaudhry for his home visits and compassionate care, and to Sylvia and Cindy for always being there to help.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Arnold King officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Chris Clark, Skyler Clark, Joe Clark, W.J. Cole, Dave Wilson, David Short, and Charlie Dolinger.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Vandyke, Jack Vandyke, Terry Hess, Randy McGlothlin, Mark McGlothlin, Danny McGlothlin, Clark Wilson, Sidney Dolinger, Sam Dolinger, Parker Short, and Avery Short.

The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Saturday.

Mrs. Cecile Leona Rowe, 64, of 1625 Harding Ave., died Friday morning in Waynesboro Community Hospital.
She was born in Augusta County on Dec. 17, 1917, a daughter of the late J. W. and Nettie Goode Henderson. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph N. Rowe; two sons, Jerry W. Rowe of Richmond and Richard L. Rowe of Waynesboro; two daughters, Mrs. Becky Henderson of Waynesboro and Mrs. Paul (Linda) Truslow of Afton; one brothers, Willie Henderson of Lyndhurst; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Henderson of Lyndhurst; two half-sisters, Mrs. Nora Drumheller of Waynesboro and Mrs. Kate Hulvey of Maryland; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Rowe was preceded in death by a daughter, Tillie M. Rowe, in 1972.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Wayside Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. James Floyd and the Rev. Roy Kiser. Burial will be in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be James Chadwick, Andy Fletcher, Tommy Thompson, Gary Spradlin, K. C. Fitzgerald, Robert Guy Fitzgerald, Harry Campbell and Pete Baber.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tomorrow evening in Etter Funeral Home.

Cloetta Marie Nicely Wood, age 81, of the Nicelytown area of Clifton Forge, Virginia died Tuesday, November 19, 2002 in the Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor. She was born February 26, 1921 in Rockbridge County, Virginia a daughter of the late Sidney Wallace Nicely and Mary Lue Reed Nicely.

Mrs. Wood was a retired clerk from the C&O Railroad and Alleghany Regional Hospital as well as a seamstress and quilt maker. She was a member of the Lone Star Advent Christian Church where she served as the Church Clerk for thirty five years. She also taught Sunday School and was a member of the Susie Davis Circle.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Earl (Alice) Higgins, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Roger (Margaret) Brown both of Clifton Forge; two sons and daughters-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. (Jane Boaz) Wood of Richmond, VA and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Joe (Kathryn Beard) Wood of Millboro, VA; one brother, Albert E. Nicely of Goshen, VA; six grandchildren, Mrs. Jon (Sally) Nystrom, Laura Jane Wood, Joseph David Wood, Robert Paul Brown, Roy Thomas Brown and Rebecca Suzanne Brown; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Norma R. Dressler of Millboro.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Wood on March 29, 1972; and three sisters, Ruby Gaylor, Mrs. Olza "Frances" Nicely and Mrs. George "Polly" Lightner.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2002 at the Lone Star Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge with Rev. Wendell DuBois and Rev. Douglas Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

Chorilda Ann (Whited)Horton,80,of Richlands,Va.,died in a Bristol Tenn. hospital.She was born in Russell County,Va.and was the daughter of the late Preston Fipps and Eunice England(Elkins)Whited.

She had made her home in the Richlands area for her entire life and had faithfully served as the pastor's wife for 40 years at the Richlands Tabernacle.She was preceded in death by one daughter Thelma Osborn, two brothers Major Whited and Vernie Whited, three sisters Elease Keen, Blanch Whited and Beatrice Whited.

Survivors are her husband the Rev. Grat Horton, four daughters Mozell Cordle, Naomi Ray, Patricia Jenelle and Sharon Roberts; six sons Donald Horton, Rev. Ralph S.Horton, Christopher (Mack)Horton,Rev.David S. Horton, Rev. James D. Horton and Rev. Phillip Horton; and two sisters Grace Duncan and Vera Chappell.

MARION - Gladys Ellouise Knutson, age 85, of 464 Jamesway Drive, Marion, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 2:37 p.m. in her home.

She was born on May 21, 1923 in Pike Co., KY. to the late George C. and Nellie G. (McGlothlin) Shelton. On March 22, 1947 in Yuma, AZ., Gladys married Dennis John Knutson. He preceded her in death in Rockledge, FL., on March 17, 2006.
A homemaker, she served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of both the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Marion and the Advent Lutheran Church of Melbourne, FL.

Surviving are three sons, Michael (Karen) Knutson of McHenry, Ill., John (Judy) Knutson of Flower Mound, TX., George (Cathy) Knutson of Marion, OH.; four brothers, C. Kelly Shelton of Marion, OH., Eddie (Joan) Shelton of Marion, OH., Dr. A. Dennis (Bette) Shelton of Delaware, OH., Rick (Haven) Shelton of Marion, OH.; and three sisters, Clay Burns, Glada (Jack) Bull, and Judy (Robert) Lehner all of Marion, OH. Gladys has six grandchildren, Erik, Sarah, Amy, Bradley, Leah, and Kelly, and a great grandson, Keaton.

Preceding her in death along with her parents; and husband; were three sisters, Agnes Sellards, Mary Hicks, and Freda Womack; and a brother, George Shelton.

Friends may call today, Monday, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted by her nephew, Rev. Jonathan Bull, on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. in the Emanuel Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church or the Quality of Life Hospice Program at Marion General Hospital.

OBITUARY

Dr. Clyde W. ?Bill? Thompson, 73, of 5000 Ohio 19, Galion, died unexpectedly Friday, July 16, 2004 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital.

Born March 19, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, he was the son of Fred Thompson of Galion and the late N. Mae Lockhart Thompson. He is survived by his wife Marie E. McFadden Thompson, whom he married May 28, 1955.

He is a long time member of Gospel Baptist Church. Dr. Thompson graduated from Iberia High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked at Peabody-Galion for two years and graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1955. He opened a chiropractic office in Mt. Gilead where he worked during the day while he worked at the Marion Engineer Depot at night. He worked full time at Ontario/Mansfield General Motors for 31 years while practicing chiropractic part time in Galion. When he retired from General Motors in 1988 he resumed chiropractic full time until his retirement in 2001.

He enjoyed working and his favorite hobby was beekeeping and honey production. He was an avid gardener and liked hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Dr. Thompson was currently serving as President of the Chiropractic Association of Ohio. He was a member of Galion Lodge 414 F. & A.M.; Naomi Chapter 42 Order of Eastern Star; a 32nd degree member Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus; a member of Galion Shrine Club; Aladdin Temple Shrine, Columbus; Galion Elk?s Lodge 1191; Past President of Galion Toastmaster?s Club; member of General Motors Retiree Assoc. of the U.A.W.; Richland County Beekeepers Assoc. and Tri-County Beekeepers Assoc.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Denny Sexton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Patrick Aaron Thompson, and Patrick A. & Brandi Thompson, II, all of Galion; six grandchildren, Jeremiah Thompson, Shane Powell, Elizabeth Mullins, Harley Thompson, Brandon Thompson and Lillian Thompson; two great grandchildren, Devon and Dillon Mullins; his father, Fred Thompson, of Galion; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Stan Richards, of New Concord, a brother and sister-in-law, L. T. ?Tom? and Judy Thompson, of Centerburg; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Joan McFadden, of Mesa, Ariz., Bob and Ruth McFadden, of Petersburg, Va. and Gary and Susanne Sobie, of Davenport, Iowa and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and an infant brother.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Gospel Baptist Church, 5670 Ohio 19, Galion, with Rev. Monty Trammel officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.

Masonic memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday during calling hours.

OBITUARY

Curtis Arms, age 77, of Raven, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Marvin, Virginia and was the son of the late Elihu and Vergie Honaker Arms. Curtis worked as a coal miner for 42 years. He retired as a section foreman with Pittston Coal Company. He lived all his life in the Raven, Virginia area. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Arms; one grandson, Anthony Kane Arms; and four brothers, Junior Arms, Tivis Arms, Darris Arms and Dallas Arms.

Those who survive him are:
His Wife, June Wells Arms, three Sons Gary Arms and wife, Karen of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; Tony Arms and wife, Kim of Bandy, Virginia; Craig Arms and wife, Davina of Swords Creek, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Janice Arms of Richlands, Virginia; five sisters Mable Boyd of Raven, Virginia; Betty Deel and husband, Marcus of Pounding Mill, Virginia; Dorothy Hylton and husband, Andrew of Chicago, Illinois; Wanda Richardson and husband, Don of Swords Creek, Virginia;

Mr. Carl Keene, age 73, of Morganton, North Carolina, formerly of Rowe, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013 in a Kingsport, Tennessee hospital. Born March 12, 1940 in Rowe, Virginia, he was the first born of the late Edward Joseph (Edd J.) and State Ira Street Keene. He spent most of his life in and around the Rowe, Virginia area later moving to North Carolina. He was best described by a young doctor that was taking care of him, "He is what I like to call a free spirit."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant sons, Rickey, Zachary, and Kevin Keene, two sisters, Shelva Jean Compton, and Barbara Joan Compton, and one infant brother, Joseph Roy Keene.

Survivors include daughters, Carla Lester and husband, Jackie and Lisa Hess and husband, Jimmy all of Rowe, Virginia; step-daughter, Melanie Cooper of Hurley; sons, Leslie Keene and wife, Theresa and Phillip Keene and wife, Pam all of Rowe, Gregory Keene and wife, Debra of Cedar Bluff, Corey Cooper and Byron Cooper both of Hurley; sisters, Vada Baldwin and husband, Ned of Honaker and Patty Keen and husband, Harlis of Rowe; brothers, Joseph Keene and wife, Donna of Chilhowie and Dalma Keene and wife, Kathy of Tazewell; brother and sister at heart, J.C. and Carolyn Street of Morganton, North Carolina; former wife and friend, Cutie Keene of Rowe; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Keen, Leann Lester, Johnathan Keene, Zachary Keene, Morgan Keene, Tiffany Keene, Cydney Lester; three great-grandchildren, Tylor Keen, Makayla Keen, and Kailyn Keene; a host of family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Elder Ted Brackett and Rev. Randy Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.

Pallbearers will be Johnathan Keene, Zachary Keene, Jeremy Keen, Tylor Keen, Morgan Keene, Tiffany Keene, Cydney Lester, Leann Lester, Makayla Keen, Randall Compton, Robbie Keene, Dale Street, J.C. Street, Jonathan Baldwin, and Gerald Compton.

Honorary pallbearers will be brothers-in-law, Jonathan Barrett, Kenita Light, HVMC 5-D ICU Step down employees, and Wexford House 500 Hall employees.

Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev. Tommy Dye.

OBITUARY

Dana Lucille Bandy, age 74, of Abingdon, MD, passed away on May 4, 2014. Born in Amonate, VA, she was the daughter of the late James Keyser Christian and Margaret Eugenia Howery Christian and wife of the late Pearry R. Bandy. She was a resident of Harford County for 52 years, loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, gardening and arranging flowers.

Mrs. Bandy is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ann Walter and husband, Tom, of Aberdeen, Diane Bandy of Abingdon and Kimberly Sue Plutto and husband, Tony, of Owings; brothers, Bob Christian of Tazewell, VA and Jim Christian of Melrose, FL; sister, Shirley Utke of San Martin, CA; and a sister-in-law, Betty Christian of Tazewell, Va., grandchildren, Hope Smith, Summer Plutto and Siara Plutto; and a great-grandchild, Destiny Smith. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Mark Bandy; a sister Betsy Christian, and brothers Tom and Walter Christian.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Arms and Dallas Arms.
