McKinney WELCH - Mildred P. McKinney, 80, of Elkhorn Towers in Welch went to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003 in Welch Community Hospital. She had been a resident of the Golden Harvest Unit since Dec. 1, 2003. Prior to moving to Welch in 1985, she had been a lifelong resident of Iaeger. Born June 23, 1923 at Avondale to the late Newton C. and Ida Cochran Powell, she was a member of the Roderfield Christian Church. She was a retired bookkeeper having last worked at Paul Hare Bookkeeping Services of Iaeger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Powell; and sister, Dorothy Powell Walls. Survivors include her only son, Bobby J. McKinney and wife, Linda of Welch; two grandchildren, Joel T. McKinney stationed with the U.S. Navy, Great Lakes, Ill., and Jina Rae McKinney of Welch; step-grandson, Jason Sorah and wife, Andrea of Holley, N.Y.; and step-grandchildren, Rebekah and Trenton; sisters, Ruth Copley of Sandy Huff, Elizabeth (Libby) Campbell and husband, Ralph of Iaeger; brothers, Hobart Powell of Columbus, Ohio, H.C. Powell and wife, Beverly of Columbus, Lowell T. Powell and wife, Louise of Bluefield and Danny Powell and wife, Patsy of Princeton; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel, Welch, with the Rev. Ken Price and Johnny Gale Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Wayne Goodson, Ralph Campbell, Marion Deskins, Ronnie Copley, Don Copley, Freddie Copley, John Copley, Johnny Gale Pennington and Jim Sly. She worked for 38 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Norma had a great passion for flowers, plants and her husband?s photography. She was known for her desire to keep her Christmas tree displayed until July. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lewis Joslyn of Center Barnstead, N.H.; her son, Glenn Joslyn and his wife Beverly, of Center Barnstead, N.H.; a granddaughter, Angela Ambrose and her husband, Raymond, of Concord, N.H; her brother, Chester Trafton of York; her sister, Harriet Lawry of York; and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Omer E. Bradsher, 81, formerly of Paragould, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at his home in Senath, Mo. He was born Oct. 7, 1929, at Little Rock, the son of the late Omer Ethridge Sr. and Ida Carpenter Bradsher. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Howerton Bradsher; brother, Robert Bradsher; and sisters, Martha Joffe and Betty Montgomery. He practiced family medicine in the Paragould area for more than 40 years. He received his doctorate of medicine from the University of Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock in 1958. His undergraduate education was completed at Hendrix College. Dr. Bradsher served his community at the local, state and national levels. In the 1960s he was heavily involved in both gubernatorial and presidential elections. He served as a delegate to the 1968 Republican National Convention. In the 1980s and 90s, he served on the Greene County Quorum Court. Dr. Bradshers wisdom and compassion reached many lives. His patients, co-workers and friends were all touched by his guidance and care. In his later years his most cherished moments in his career were caring for homebound patients in their homes. He was a dedicated family man, a devout Christian and was extremely proud of his birthplace and heritage. He was a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of First United Methodist Church in Senath. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bradsher of the home; children, Brad Bradsher of Little Rock, Todd Bradsher of Peach Orchard, Julia Bradsher of Kalamazoo, Mich., Jana Bagwell of Vicksburg, Miss., Regina Franks of Bastrop, La., Randal Gibson of Senath and Vickie Moylan of Paragould; sister, Lucie Smith of Naples, Fla.; special cousin, Freddie Webb Graham-Eller; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Heath Funeral Home. His life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Neal Avirette and Ron Dunavin officiating.
