FAYETTEVILLE ? William ?Bill? Garland Sneed Sr., 79, of Fayetteville, formerly of Minden, passed from this life and entered into Heaven to reunite with the love of his life his wife, June on Saturday, April 28, 2012. He is now rejoicing on the streets of Glory and has gained his angel wings.
Born March 4, 1933 at Glen Morgan, W.Va., to the late Erie and Jennie Sneed. He is preceded in death by brothers, Roger, Donald, and James Sneed; sisters, Freda Riley, Gloria Poore, and Joyce Sneed; son-in-law, Mark Jones; daughter-in-law, Esta Volksen; and his soulmate and true love of his life his wife, June Sneed.
He was the Pastor of Rocklick Community Church, Minden. He worked and retired with 40 years of service at the Buckeye Prep Plant in Stephenson, W.Va.; he also retired following 17 years of services for the Raleigh County Landfill. He loved his life as a Christian and loved testifying to everyone he met about his Savior whether he was fishing, working, or simply just sitting around talking, he would invite you to come to church.
He is survived by a brother, Dannie Snead and wife, Joan of Baltimore, Md.; his children, Dell Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bert Sneed and wife, Julia of Oak Hill, William ?Bigfoot? Sneed and companion, Crystal Hodges of Mt. Hope, Roy Sneed of Mount Olive, W.Va., Ann Ramsey and husband, Shawn of Fayetteville, which is whom he made his home with.
Grandchildren, James Sneed (of which he raised as a son) and wife, Jenny of Mount Hope, Robert Deal and wife, Dara of Endor, W.Va., Glen Deal of Charleston, Harley Volksen stationed in Afghanistan and girlfriend, Jenny Smith of Fayetteville, Lexi Volksen of N.C., Natile Hudnall of W.Va., Carla Toney of Martinsburg, Amanda Elmore and husband, Ben of Fayetteville, Shawn Ramsey II of Fayetteville, Cody Ramsey of Fayetteville, Brittany Willis and husband, Kevin of Ansted, Heidi Tolley of Ansted, Heather Pennington of Beckley, Davey Gillam of Fayetteville, Pete Palko of Fayetteville, Michael Haney of Fayetteville, and Michael Zimmerman of Fayetteville.
Great-Grandchildren, Issaiah Sneed, Bethany Sneed, Robert Deal Jr., Tara Deal, Jason and Kayleigh Lambert, Damien Joy, Dane Smith, Chase Willis and Bishop Elmore, whom he was awaiting his arrival in June of this year; nieces, Patti Smith of Northeast, Md., Cheryle Hodges of Virginia, Billie Davis of N.C., Donna Gonzales, Linda Snead, Karen Nichols, and Wendy Snead all of Maryland; nephews, Christopher Snead and Michael Snead both of Maryland; several great-nephews and nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces; very special friends that he considered family, everyone at Rocklick Community Church he loved each and everyone of them so much, Tex and Frances Ramsey, Karen Sloan, all the employees at the Raleigh County Landfill, each and everyone especially his buddy, Darrell Grant, the professionals that gave him excellent care, Amanda Haney, Todd Dennler, Gentiva staff especially Trish, Karen, Genie, Kenna, and Megan, Dr. Lora Keaveny and the staff at the Peterson Clinic and the staff at PMC.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Rev. Jerry Sears officiating. He will be cremated and his ashes will be reunited with his soulmate to be together again at last.
Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
