  Notes	OBITUARY Ward Beecher Deskins, age 73 of Claypool Hill, VA passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 in a Richlands hospital following a long illness. Born in Buchanan County, VA he was the son of the late Walter and Orpha Brown Deskins. He was a retired coal miner and truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Deskins and Roscoe Deskins and two sisters, Virginia Matney and Agnes Jewell. He is survived by his wife, Gaylene Wade Shannon Deskins, One daughter, Jeanie Long and husband Randy of Mavisdale, VA Two sons, Valmy Shannon and wife Lisa of Seaford, VA Nick Deskins and wife Angela of Chilhowie, VA One sister, Etta Schilling of Roanoke, VA Three grandchildren, Christy LongCollins, Autumn Deskins and Brittany Long and a great granddaughter, Taylor Collins. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 11 A.M. at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. Monroe Greely and Rev. Jeff Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands, VA. Pall bearers will be Trace Davidson, Teddy Neely, Mitch Horton, Ervin Justice, Eddie Deskins and C.B. Vandyke. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 P.M. Monday at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff..
