  Notes	OBITUARY Fairbury Gazette, Fairbury, NB; 3 August 1878 KILLED BY LIGHTNING. During the storm last evening Mrs. Freeman Rice was struck and instantly killed by lightning. She was sitting near the middle of the room when the bolt descended through a stove pipe which projected through the roof, striking her in the head. Dr. Wilcox was at once called but he could detect no signs of life, death being doubtless instantaneous. Her sister-in-law, Mrs. P.C. Rice, who was sitting near her was also severely shocked but not seriously injured. Mrs. Rice has resided in Fairbury for some time and was generally known and universally respected. She left a husband and several children who will deeply feel their loss.
