Whitt, 71, of 206 Liberty St., Spencer, died in the Wellington Hospital yesterday after an illness of one year. Mrs. Whitt, who was born in Virginia, lived in Mount Vernon before moving to Spencer 17 years ago. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Layfayette. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fay Davis, Spencer and Mrs. Bernice O'Byrne, Mount Vernon, a son Charlie, Chicago, ILL; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. Gray Aldrich, Mrs. Blanche Rasnake and Mrs. Dora Taylor, all of Virginia; six brothers, Melvin, George, James, Bernard and Bill Burress, all of Virginia, and Luther Burress of West Virginia. Friends will be received in the Parker Funeral Home, Spenser, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Services will be Sunday at 2 PM in the funeral home with the Rev. bobby Wheeler, Lafayette, officiating. Burial will be in Amity Cemetery, Knox County.
