  Notes	OBITUARY The Winston-Salem Journal; 26 Jan 1961 BARE DIES HE HEADED STORE CHAIN North Wilkesboro - Gilbert T. Bare, 49, of North Wilkesboro, owner of Bare's Department Stores, died in Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem last night after a critical illness of 20 days. His stores are in North Wilkesboro, Taylorsville and Boone. He had been in business in North Wilkesboro for 25 years. He was a member of North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church. Active in the Wilkes Chamber of Commerce, he was a former chairman of the Chamber's Merchant's Division. Mr. Bare was born in Ashe County. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bernice Rhodes Bare; two daughters, Mrs. Rayburn Byrd of North Wilkesboro, Rt. 1, and Miss. Jane Bare of the home. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Watt M. Cooper. Burial will be in Mount Lawn Memorial Park. The body will remain at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home
