- They were married at the home of James Smith of Polk County, by J. W.Stahl, Minister of the Gospel.Witnesses Benjamin F. Smith and William Jones.
In 1865 they bought the farm on which they now live, lying on both sides of the Touchet, near the mouth of Whiskey Creek. He owns 560 acres of land. John raised cattle and later sheep and sold this business to his brother Adam and his son James H. Fudge.
