  Notes	Thomas bought 250 acres of land for 10 pounds from John Williams and his wife Ann on the N S Roanoke River in August of 1729. John Williams and Ann were Thomas' grandparents. Thomas was in Duplin Co., North Carolina on May 22, 1753. It is believed that Thomas brought his mother and sisters to Duplin County with him. On February 17, 1755, in Duplin County, Thomas sold to Thomas Rhodes two tracts of land on Rocquist in Bertie County. He then purchased land on Gosen Swamp from Lemuel Lanier on August 12,1755 in a deed witnessed by Sarah Castellaw. This deed was made shortly before Sarah's marriage to Jesse Barfield.
