      OBITUARY

      Tuscaloosa News, 4 Apr 1999

      Bellamy: Charles Asa Duke, Sr., age 77, died April 1, 1999 at Hill Hospital in York. Services were held yesterday in Roy Funeral Home Chapel in York. Dr. Charles Bellenger officiated. Burial followed in Souls Chapel Cemetery in Geiger. Roy Brown Service Funeral Home directed.

      He is survived by his wife, Betty Lyons Duke of Bellamy; sons Charles A. Duke, Jr. and wife, Diane, of York; Julian C. Duke and wife, Glenda, of Geiger; Philip W. Duke and wife, Pattie, of Meridian, MS; brothers James O. Duke of Durant, CA; sisters Jane Duke of Camden, Blanche Gates of Crestview, FL; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

      Mr. Duke was a member of Lamkin Memorial Church. He was also a Gideon. He was a retired mechanic and shop foreman for American Can and Paper Co., as well as a contract deliverer for the Tuscaloosa News.
