Notes	OBITUARY Richlands News Press; 3 Jul 2007 Mrs. Shelva Jean Compton, 66, of the Purcell Addition of Richlands, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007 in a Richlands hospital. Born May 25, 1941 in Buchanan County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Keene and State Ira Keene. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who died with hope in Jesus Christ and the resurrection. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Joan Compton; one brother, Roy Joseph Keene; and one granddaughter, Talia Lea Compton. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Sturgle Compton of Richlands; three sons, Jeffery Compton and wife Donna of Bandy, Va., Michael Compton and wife Teresa of Richlands and Randall Compton and wife Kim of Cedar Bluff, Va.; two sisters, Patty Keen and husband Harlis of Rowe, Va. and Vada Baldwin and husband Ned of Honaker, Va.; three brothers, Carl Keene of Morganton, N.C., Joe Keene and wife Donna of Chilhowie, Va. and Dalma Keene and wife Kathy of Tazewell, Va.; special in-laws that have become sisters and brothers, Don Compton, Faye Street, Lovella Compton, Ralph and Virginia Compton and Fred and Carlene Jackson; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va. with the Rev. Randy Webb and the Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands, Va. Pallbearers will be Matthew Compton, Steven Compton, Ricky Street, Brian Street, Dennis Shortt Jr., Ned Baldwin, Leslie Keene, and Gerald Compton. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (today) with a service at 7 p.m. at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va.
