- OBITUARY
ROSS A. LYNN of Carrollton, passed away June 3, 2012. He was born September 5, 1942 to Lt. Colonel Lloyd L. Lynn and Elizabeth Green Lynn in Union City, Tennessee.
He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1960 to 1964 and was assigned to search and rescue vessels.
Ross attended Atlanta Christian College where he met Ruth Blair, his wife of 44 years. Later, he graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Ross also obtained his Professional Land Surveyor?s License for the State of Georgia and the State of Alabama.
Ross retired as Regional Vice President, Keck & Wood, Inc. after 38 years of service. He managed the Carrollton office from 1986 until his retirement and was named ?Employee of the Year? in 1991.
During memberships at First Christian Church of Mableton, Bethany Christian Church, and Millers Academy Christian Church, Ross held a number of leadership positions. They included Chairman of the Board of Elders and Deacons, Bible School Superintendant, and Director of Music. He taught Bible School classes for 31 years. Ross also served as Chairman of Java and Beyond Mission Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stuart L. Lynn.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth B. Lynn and son, Russell L. Lynn of Carrollton; two nieces, Alicia L. Meadows of Eatonton, Georgia and Jessica N. Lynn of Atlanta, Georgia; nephew, Stuart L. Lynn, Jr. of Holly Springs, Mississippi; aunts, Wanda G. Henry and Johnnie S. Morgan of Dunlap, Tennessee and a number of other relatives. Also surviving are special friends Dan Craven and David Boyd.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 4, 2012 from 5:00 ? 8:00 PM and the funeral will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Chapel with Minister William (Bill) Gray and Mr. Matthew B. Gray officiating. Music by Mark Barnes and Cheryl Childers. Pallbearers will be David Boyd, Dan Craven, Stuart Lynn, Jr., Kenny Chambers, Russell Shadrix, Doyal Shirey and Delmar Shoemake. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Moffitt, James Stanley, Allen Martin, Jerry Latimer and Eddie Williams.
Interment will be in the Bethany Christian Church Cemetery. Flowers are welcome but memorial contributions may be made to Tanner Hospice, PO Box 1136, Carrollton, Ga., 30112.
