Born December 6, 1932 at Witten Valley in Tazewell, VA she was a daughter of the late James Higginbotham Bowling and Mary Ethel Dills Bowling. She was a member of the Adria Community Church. Ruth was a senior caregiver and loved her work dearly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Chambers; eight sisters, Eva Hall, Alice Harris, Eleanor Covington, Ethel Brewster, Frances Turner, Gladys Elliott, Dorothy Bowling, and Lillie Vance Bowling; three brothers, Edward, James, and Ralph Bowling. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Harrison "Buddy" Flanagin and Susan Griffith who were Ruth?s caregivers; sisters in law, Bobbie Bowling of Marion, VA and Pat Bowling of Hyattsville, MD; several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA with The Reverend Don Elswick officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be Junior Flanagin, Doug Flanagin, Charles Kirby, Monroe Flanagin, Zachary Griffith, and Tengin Oldham.
