Born in Gate City, VA on December 27, 1936, he was a son of the late Charles Cefus Quillen and Evelyn Grace Blair Quillen. He was also preceded in death by his brother J.B. Quillen. Mr. Quillen retired from AT&T after more than 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army and was of the Methodist Faith. He is survived by two grandsons Tommy Rainey, Las Vegas, NV and Roy Rainey, Denver, CO; two great-granddaughters Samantha Rainey and Ashley Rainey Las Vegas, NV; one sister Clarice Steadman and husband Fred Church Hill, TN; two brothers Paul Quillen and wife Rita, Hiltons, VA and Larry Quillen and wife Kathy, Gate City, VA and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA and anytime at the residence of Roy Lee Quillen. Funeral service will follow at 7:00PM with Elder Bill Tignor and Dr. Gene Miller officiating Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Strong Cemetery, Gate City VA. by American Legion Post #3/265 and Virginia National Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Colonial Funeral Home no later than 10:00AM to go in procession. Pallbearers will be nephews and honorary pallbearers will be great nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Wellmont Holston Valley CCU and Wilcox Hall 3rd floor.
