OBITUARY

Gaylene Wade Shannon Deskins, age 71 of Claypool Hill, Virginia, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011. Born June 26, 1939 in Buchanan County, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Carl and Hettie Webb Wade. She was a retired nurse from Mattie Williams Hospital.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Morris Ray Shannon and her second husband, Beacher Deskins.
She is survived by two sons, Nick Deskins and wife Angela of Chilhowie, VA and Valmy Shannon and wife Lisa of Seaford, VA; one granddaughter, Autumn Deskins of Chilhowie, VA; one brother, Emanuel Wade and wife Carol of Blountville, TN; nieces, Rebekah LaFontaine, Susanna Holmes, Martha Ward and Amber Austin; a host of other nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and special friends at Valley Health Care.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Pastor Dennis McLemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Russell Bass, Dean Wilkerson, Ferrel Compton and Mitch Horton .
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
