Earl Mullins, age 84 of 2281 Old Wolf Creek Road in Narrows passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 4th, 2009 surrounded by his loved ones.
Earl was born on June 7th, 1924 at Blackey, Virginia in Buchanan County and was the son of the late Edward and Geneva Grace Christian Mullins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Osa Ellen (Ocie) Baker Mullins; one sister, Berchie Mullins; one brother, Dearl Mullins, and a great-grandchild, Shana Cumbee.
Earl is survived by his five children, Evelyn M. Harris and son-in-law Luther Jerry of Narrows, Herbert Mullins and daughter-in-law Connie of Coker, Alabama, Douglas Mullins, Sr., and daughter-in-law Sharon of Bozoo, West Virginia, Henry Mullins and daughter-in-law Judy of Thaxton, Virginia, Arlene M. Sharp and son-in-law Walter of Narrows; twelve grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Arville Mullins of Wolford, Virginia, Arnold Mullins and wife Beulah of Callands, Virginia, Harold Mullins and wife Marie of Tazewell, Herlen Mullins and wife Allie Mae of Southgate, Michigan; three sisters, Belva Lester of Paynesville, West Virginia, Beulah Stacy of Abingdon, Virginia, Berta Estep and husband Andrew of Wolford, Virginia; many nieces and nephews and many friends; and some very special friends and neighbors, Jamie and Heather Albert and family, Shirley and Clinton Richardson, Nikki and Dwight Collins, and Jennifer and Timmy Stewart and Family.
The family wants to thank Good Samaritan Hospice nurses and aides for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8th, 2009 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. John Offenberger and Rev. Ward Harris officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with graveside rites by VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, American Legion Post #68 of Narrows and Post #311 of Pembroke. The family will receive friends and family at Riffe's Funeral Service Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM.
