OBITUARY
From Find A Grave
WALDEN, Wally M. ? Age 68, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2004, at his home in Sutherlin, Oregon, after a lengthy illness.
Wally was born on July 14, 1935, on an Island near Monroe, Oregon, to Ferris and Minni (Christian) Walden, who preceded him in death. He grew up and attended schools in Alpine and Monroe, Oregon.
Wally was very proud of his pioneer heritage. His great-grandfather, Andrew and his two brothers were part of the Treacherous ?Lost Wagon Train of 1853?. The 1200 family wagon train who traveled down the middle fork of the Williamette River above Oakridge were forced to leave their wagons and walked out and through Eugene without even realizing it.
Wally was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era and attained the rank of Sergeant. Wally is survived by his children, Jeffery and Andrew Walden, both of Prineville, Oregon; Rhonda Oakes of Tennessee; Lisa; Michael and his wife, Jenny Walden of Sutherlin; Denna and her husband, Lee Holm of Sutherlin; Rhonda and her husband, Dave Van Dolah of Dillard, Oregon; two sisters and spouses, Doris and Lester Hill of Eugene, Oregon; Maxine and Bill Berry of Springfield, Oregon; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his former wife and good friend, Deloris Walden of Oakland, Oregon, two brothers, George and Bud Walden and one sister, Jean Freeman preceded him in death.
Military Graveside Service will follow in Valley View Cemetery near Sutherlin which he previously managed for twenty years. Pastor Billy Sanders and Mr. Richard Carter will be officiating the services.
