Louise Gibson Sterrett, 91, of Blacksburg, formerly of Rockbridge, died Saturday, June 13, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Sterrett was born Oct. 23, 1900 in Rockbridge Baths, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John M. Gibson. She was married to the late William Robert Sterrett.

She attended what is now known as Longwood College. She was postmistress at Rockbridge Baths for 31 years and was a member of Rockbridge Woman's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Trails Chapter adn Colonial Dames XVII Century. She was also a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Sterrett was a correspondent for many years for The News-Gazette and its predecessor The Rockbridge County News.

She is survived by two sons, William M. Sterrett of Blacksburg and John R. Sterrett of Buena Vista; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Tuesday, June 16, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church by the Rev. David A. Dickerson. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Bethesda Presbyterian Church, or a charity of choice.
